11-12 October, Brixen in conjunction with the International Mountain Summit

Eurisy in cooperation with IDM Südtirol and Satellite Navigation Cluster Berchtesgaden, are delighted to invite you to our conference on how satellite based technologies can help Search and Rescue and Civil Protection Agencies in the Alps!

The conference will be held on 11 October in Forum Brixen, Italy in conjunction with the International Mountain Summit. On 12 October WALK THE TALK by joining a networking hike in the local mountains!

Satellites can improve efficiency of search and rescue operations and emergency response

Satellite applications provide various services to search and rescue organisations, emergency response units and civil protection agencies.

Earth observation data can help provide better maps or monitor environmental changes. Satellite navigation can help locate people in need and allow for more advanced team coordination and intelligence exchange between different rescue units. Finally, satellite communication can help provide connectivity for such services to work in mountainous or remote regions.

But there's room for improvement

This conference builds on our first Alps conference in Berchtesgaden. There, participating rescue services and civil protection agencies voiced certain limitations to existing systems and gave suggestions to how they could be improved.

Eurisy has since surveyed search and rescue coordinators in the Alps to better understand the current use of satellite systems and their limitations. The conference themes are based around the topics of interest named by surveyed organisations.

The three themes will cover:

  • What SatNav and SatCom technologies can do for emergency call services
  • How can SatNav and SatCom assist in search and rescue team coordination
  • How Earth observation data can improve maps and provide useful geo information

Why attend?

This conference will feature hands-on case studies about the current and potential use of satellite services to assist Rescue Services and Civil Protection Agencies in the Alps. Join users, satellite technology experts and private sector representatives to:

  • Discuss on the future potential for a cross-border platform for Alpine Search and Rescue and Civil Protection Agencies
  • Listen to users share on how they benefitted from these technologies
  • Explore where there is room for improvement
  • Discover new technologies and pioneering users
  • Take part in the International Mountain Summit: a weeklong event with great food, entertainment, famous mountaineers and beautiful nature!
