Under the theme “Flying to the Moon and Further – Belgium embraces the challenge,” Switch to Space 5 will explore Belgium’s contribution to lunar exploration and the opportunities emerging across its industry and research community. The event welcomes participants from Belgium and around the world, with speakers from Belgian space companies, universities, research centres and the European Space Agency (ESA).
As space activities expand, so does the range of skills the sector needs. Alongside science and engineering, lunar exploration raises legal, societal
and commercial questions. Switch to Space introduces participants from different academic and professional backgrounds to this increasingly multidisciplinary field.

The morning programme will examine how space careers could evolve over the next five to ten years, followed by a panel on the challenges facing Belgian industry in lunar exploration.
A dedicated question-and-answer session will give students the opportunity to engage directly with speakers.

In the afternoon, participants can choose between two parallel sessions: “Living on the Moon – Technical challenges” and “Living on the Moon – Legal and Societal challenges.” Together, these sessions will explore the practical and human questions shaping future lunar missions.

Career discovery and direct exchanges are central to the event. During lunch time, participants will be able to visit sponsor and startup booths, take part in speed dating, join “Ask Me Anything” discussions with experts, and explore a dedicated wall for CVs, job opportunities and internships.
The event will also offer opportunities to discover technologies being developed in Belgium and meet young professionals who have launched their own companies.
