What can satellite services do for managing historical cities, safeguarding cultural heritage?

In the frame of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the Basilicata Region is joining forces with NEREUS, EURISY and the Italian Space Agency to host a unique workshop on “Space4Culture – satellite services for cultural and historical cities”.

On the 15th and 16th October 2018, those operating in the cultural and creative sectors, managing historical city centres or cultural heritage sites can gather in Matera, next year’s European Capital of Culture, to present and discuss experiences of use of satellite-based services to safeguard cultural heritage, create new cultural and artistic experiences, foster social inclusion, and promote access to culture and arts within and around cities in Europe and in the Mediterranean area.

The format of the conference aims at bridging the gap between operational satellite services and potential users. The ambition of the event is to demonstrate the importance of fruitful exchanges between confirmed users of satellite-based services, potential users and service providers. Each user panel will include two examples of operational services presented by the users themselves. The experienced users will be coupled with potential users and service providers, to evaluate the transferability of the operational services to other urban contexts.https://www.eurisy.org/event-Space4Culture/about-the-conference
